Part Time Seasonal Maintenance

Department: Recreation Department
Location: Chambersburg, PA

Part-Time Seasonal Maintenance
To assist in a wide variety of routine maintenance work, requiring manual skills in the maintenance of
Chambersburg Recreation Department’s parks and properties. Performs work with general
instructions, although some specific tasks may require detailed assignment. Work is outdoors and
involves exposure to the elements.


Work is performed under the direction of Park Maintenance Supervisor / and supervision of Park
Maintenance staff.


Shift Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7AM-3PM, weekends and holidays as needed
Rate of Pay: $14.50 per hour
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operates a push mower or zero turn mower;
  • Empty trash/waste containers regularly;
  • Maintains dog stations: fill with bags and empty waste;
  • Ensuring Park grounds are free of litter, debris, and safety hazards;
  • Ensuring walkways are clear and accessible for visitors;
  • Use of shovel, blower, weed whacker, rakes, and other power tools/ hand tools as directed;
  • Performs restroom maintenance to include regular checks, restocking paper products, emptying trash cans, and cleaning sinks/toilets/urinals/floors as needed;
  • Checking playground equipment for safety;
  • Raking mulch back into heavy use areas, helps to fill up playgrounds with mulch;
  • Enforcing Park rules and regulations as needed;


Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum age 18;
  • Ability to perform manual work in a variety of weather conditions;
  • Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to assignment;
  • Safety oriented with ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely;
  • Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions;
  • Service oriented with ability to effectively communicate and interact with co-workers and the public through personal contact as normally defined by the ability to work, see, read, speak, hear, and lift objects;
  • Minimum degree of skill in problem solving decision-making;


Licenses and Certifications:
Must possess a current, valid state driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record in
accordance with the Borough’s Policy.
